Curious case of ghost in an IIT Madras hostel

This story was told to me by one of my seniors back in 2012. 

Boys won't sleep early at IITs. Well, most of them do not. It was maybe Narmada or the Jamuna hostel. One of the guys visited the bog around 2:30 something in the night. By 2:30 and all, although many would be awake, but they will mostly be inside their rooms. So, no soul was visible in the hostel wings and other common areas when this guy went to the bog area(washrooms) in the night. After coming out of the bog, he saw one of his friends washing his face in front of the common mirrors placed near the entrance of the bog. This guy said a word or two about something to the one washing his face and the later replied casually.
The moment this guy stepped out of the bog, as in the very moment he crossed the frame of the entrance door to the bog, he realised that friend of his was long dead as he was the one who had committed suicide a year ago. He turned back to see nobody and that was the moment he fainted. He was found unconscious the next morning by other students and was brought back to consciousness. The vibe of fear slowly but steadily spread, first through the hostel and through the common circles of these students. The late night guy was somehow alright, no fever or migraines.
Many of the students weren't ready to believe the story but it was also true that a guy had committed suicide the previous year and he used to live in the room adjacent to the bog.
