V. Balakrishnan from the Department of Physics- He is easily the best teacher I have been taught by. His knowledge of Physics as a whole is unparalleled and the manner in which he links seemingly disparate aspects of the natural world is stunning. His lectures on NPTEL and Youtube on Classical Mechanics have been watched by thousands. He has the ability to not only answer any questions you have but also too take those simple questions, modify them slightly and lead the way to deep, profound concepts. For all of us taking his course, it is a bit like having your favorite author read aloud to you or an actor you idolize enact your favorite scene.
His classes leave your mind buzzing and lead you on to questions you never realized you had. The disappointment among the students when one of his classes is cancelled is palpable and I doubt there is any greater tribute to a teacher than that.
